So I've got this friend with whom I haven't spoken in a while. Which is sad in and of itself, as she means a lot to me. She's engaged (or was, whichever the case may be) to a guy I don't know.

They're having some private issues that are none of my business. But he wants me to talk to her. No dice on two accounts: She hardly ever answers her phone and I don't want to try too hard to get into the middle of this.

I have no problems with this kid, but my friend's happiness is what I'm concerned with. And right this very second it seems he ain't it.

And the reason he's asking me to talk to her about it? I'm the common denominator. I'm an old friend of hers whom he speaks with on facebook from time to time. I don't know the guy, I don't know the particulars of their relationship and I certainly haven't the FOGGIEST idea of what's going on between them right now.

At this point, I want to be there for my friend, but she's so far away. I also don't want to butt into her business. Not only was I not invited to do so, but it'll only make things worse (and already has I've been told) for the guy.

So tell me. How do you help someone you care about when you don't feel that you're allowed to do just that?

Dear Live Journal,
I have not writen a blog here since right before Easter. I have neglected my Bloggity Roots here at Live Journal. I don't feel bad about this, but it doesn't make it less true.

Anyway, i'm in the library at school killing time during my break. I don't have too much to update for those who might still read this.

Jess and I have celebrated out 1st anniversary of marriage! Woot! We're still together and not sick of each other so we'll probably make it alright the rest of the way.

I'm still working at Fry's and I just signed up for my health care. Woot! I can now get glasses and FINALLY get my fingernail fixed.

The amount of money in my bank account is scaring me. Not that I have too little, but that I have too much. I know this is a weird thing about which to worry, but it most likely means I've forgotten to pay for something or another. As far as I know all my bills are current, and I have my June budget planned out for the bills this month, but at the end of the month i'll have a huge amount of moeny that I am simply not accustomed to having.

Anyway, that's all for now. I haven't run out of things to type, but time in which to type it. Not even time to a spelling and grammar check. Anyone want to take a stab at that?

Ok ... before I begin this blog, let me just say that if I'm wrong about this then my foot is ready to be inserted into my mouth.

A lucky coincidence has landed in my lap at the end of this week. It seems that David, department manager of Customer Service (The Cashiers' Big Wig) has been fired over something scandolous. I don't know for sure if he's actually been canned or not. It was just a rumor I heard from a fellow associate that was 80% confirmed by what happened to me today.

Remember my last blog about being scheduled to work at Fry's today when I had told them that I had a Party Animals event already? Well I was never able to find someone to trade shifts with me. So I was told to just call in. So this morning I called in to "officially" call in. The supervisor I talked to said "We'll just say we cleared it with David."

Why would we say such a thing if David were still around to contradict it?

Now I'm just waiting to hear what was the scandol. ^.^ It will bring me much joy.

It's two days until Easter and I haven't eaten or even thought about one single Cadbury Caramel egg. I've had one normal Cadbury egg, though. But the caramels are my favorites.

Anyway, my dept manager at Fry's screwed up my schedule this week so I'm having to scramble around trying to trade shifts. I had a dentist appointment this morning that I had requested time off for about a month ago. The good news is I got today's shift swapped. A really cool guy named Jose traded his closing shift for my opening shift today.

The problem is Saturday. See, we're closed on Easter Sunday, so David, the dept manager shifted around the schedules. I normally have Friday and Saturday off so that I can pick up any events for Party Animals that come in. But David has me working TEN hours this Saturday when I had already accepted a Party Animals event for that day a month ago.

The big problem is that either everyone else is already working on Saturday or can't swap with me or they simply don't want to work ten hours on a Saturday before a big holiday.

It's just been tiring this week arguing and bargaining about something that isn't my fault. I don't get what the big deal is anyway. It's only the resurrection of Christ and the salvation of all mankind is all.

Two ... no ... three bits of good news.

1) I've found a suitable program to make "archival backups" of DVDs, and have bought the appropriate media with which to do so. A test run will be performed tonight.

2) I've been Certified at work which means the following: I can accept higher payments from customers without supervisor approval, I can certify others, and I get a $1/hr raise that cannot be taken away from me. Yay! (by the way, I work at Fry's Electronics now.)

3) My ITT schedule for next quarter is pretty awesome. I have Thursday and Friday nights open now after about 5:30.

You know what all that means! I'm getting more money and more USEFUL free time, and I'll have "Archival Backups" of my DVDs. yay!

Karma, Denny's is in order.

Jay, Stargate is in order.

Teryl, your non-response to any of my calls or messages since November is OUT of order. Straighten up and fly right, Sparky.

Cheers,
Patrick

What: An evening of Muggle-rules Quidditch.

When: Friday, December 21, 2007 at 5:00pm.

Where: Steeplechase Apartments. There is a nicely sized grass field between my apartment complex and the Exxon on the corner.

Who I need: at LEAST 13 other people besides myself to make up two teams to play. Spectators to watch and serve as "Snitchers" to throw the snitch.

If I can get enough people to put together two teams that would be great. If I can get enough people to put together more teams, awesome!

What I can use: I have a ball to use as a Quaffle and tennis balls for the Snitch. If anyone has four-square or kickball style balls that are 5" or 6" in diameter, I need two of them for bludgers. I also need six hula hoops for the goals. I think I can obtain these from my boss, though.

I could also use some help making team shirts. I know this might be a little overboard, but I think it would be really fun to have them.

Why: Why the bloody hell not? It'll be wicked fun!

Post a comment to this bulletin to let me know if you want to join in!

First of all, I had a lot of fun last night! Thanks Jay and Marta. The band was really good and there were a lot of cool costumes!

I won 1st place in the costume contest and brought home $100. And my man Jay totally landed 2nd place for $50! Woot! Rock on, bro!!

Unfortunately I don't have many that were taken with my camera. I'll post those few now and post any others I get from my friends later on.

This pictures has many things. The lead singer of the band, Come See My Dead Person, and in the midground, Jermain the "Other" Ghostbuster. He was wearing just the jumpsuit of one of those Ruby costumes with the inflatable backpack. He told me his pack was too big and kept falling off, so he left it at home. Meh. I was nice to him anyway.

Pebbles and Bam Bam. The cutest couple there, and they also look the youngest. Seriously. They look 15.

The man holding the pumpkin won 3rd place and $25. Can you believe that? HE wasn't dressed up. He was just holding a pumpkin.

I just love the fact that a zombie was playing fiddle for the band.

Hey everyone. I'd like your feedback on something. I'm planning on building the robots from the Mystery Science Theater 3000 TV show. Once I have them finished, I'd like to recreate the set and produce what they call "Fan MiSTings." I'd pretty much be filming my own episodes. So I need some ideas of movies to MiST.

Any ideas? What do you feel are some of the worst movies ever made?

Just an update on Jess's Grandma:

I'm told she's doing very well. She's awake and talking today and they'll be moving her to a private room tomorrow, which means out of ICU.

Hey all. I just wanted to ask you guys if you could possibly keep Jess's grandmother in your thoughts and prayers for the next while.

She had a heart attack a few days ago and had bypass surgury this morning. They had to bypass five blockages, so it was pretty major. As of late this morning, the surgury went well and there were no complications. And while she's doing ok, she not out of the woods yet.

So if you could please just give a moment to pray or think good thoughts about her, we'd really appreciate it.

Ok folks, two new developements for you.

A) I am dropping my courses at UH this fall and enrolling at ITT Tech in Webster. I have come to realize that a career in Theatre is not a realistic possibility for me. Especially now that I'm married and we want kids sometime in the next couple of years.

I am enrolling in the Computer Aided Drafting program at ITT. It should only take me about a year and a half. And while their tuition is higher than most because they're a private institute, their job placement rate in the CAD program is 100% every quarter immediately after graudation. And this is something that I can still use as an outlet for my creativity.

Plus it won't stop me from practicing my love for theatre. There are plenty of community theatres in the area at which I can audition for plays or volunteer to be a technician. Who knows? Maybe I can get a job designing sets on the side.

B) I have applied for work at Dish Network in Alvin where my best friend Joey works. They are apparantly hiring anybody with a pulse and Joey assures me I'd get a job even if they were more picky.

They also pay $9/hr just for training, and some not-so-bad benefits, too. And a quite desk job taking tech support and customer service calls will be a nice change for me I think.

So the day before yesterday was Fiesta Texas and Jess and I rode some pretty cool rides. I got Jess to ride two roller coasters and even a wheel thing that actually goes upsidedown. But not a roller coaster that goes upside down. I don't know why she sees a difference there. Anyway, she rode the Roadrunner Express and Tony Hawk's Big Spin with me.

The Tony Hawk one is different, because it's not a train coaster. There's just this little cart that holds four people and while you're going around on the normal roller coaster track, the cart spins around. It was interesting and pretty fun.

I rode the Superman Krypton ride which was fucking awesome! There are no other words for it. It was simply sweet. There were a few other rides that I wanted to ride, but it was hot and we were tired. We went to the free water park attached to Fiesta Texas and rode several of the water rides which were really fun and helped beat the heat.

Yesterday we went to the San Antonio Zoo which is actually a pretty neat zoo. Lots of different monkeys. No apes, though which was a little disappointing. But plenty of other cool animals. I've got lots of pictures from the zoo and the Witte museum we went to today, but that was pretty boring. The museums in Houston are better. But the internet here is still too slow to upload pictures, so I think I'll just post them when we get home.

Tomorrow we're going up to New Braunfels to have a little slow day and maybe tube down the river and quite possibly go to Schitterbahn ... but I think we might skip that. We're pretty tired already. We've been eating out a lot and our bodies are protesting I think. Leave it to Jess and me to pig out at restaurants when there's a Whole Foods not 5 minutes away.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to blog a quick update on our honeymoon. The internet at the hotel here is kind of slow, so I won't be posting pictures right now. I'll probably do that tomorrow night, though.

Not a WHOLE lot is happening so far. We're both still getting over head colds, so we're being pretty pitiful.

On Monday we went through the Natural Bridge Caverns just North of San Antonio. Supposedly, it's the largest cavern system in Texas, and it's got lot of neat rock formations inside. When I was 16 my family and I went to Carlsbad Caverns in Whites, New Mexico which is a LOT bigger, so this cavern was cute in comparison.

Yesterday we didn't do a whole lot either. We shopped in the little market square downtown and went up and down the riverwalk and ate bacon cheeseburgers the size of our heads. In the evening we saw an improv comedy troupe at the River Center Comedy Club in the River Center Mall. They were pretty funny between teh awkward bits.

Today we did some more not much. We toured the Alamo, saw the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and the wax museum and then bummed around River Center Mall a bit more. We've pretty much stayed in the hotel room since then. I think we're going to hit the hot tub in a little while. The hot wet air helps our throats, so that's pretty nice.

Tomorrow, we're going to be a bit more exciting and hit up Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I really miss the days when we could be bored and say "Hey guys, wanna go to Astroworld?" and just hop in the car and drive up to 610. Now we have to take a four hour road trip to get to the nearest Six Flags. It's sad. But at least Fiesta Texas is about 50 times cleaner and nicer and has better rides than Astroworld could ever have dreamed of being and having.

So I'll update on that little adventure and how many times Jessie will scream like a little girl on the rides. Oh and also pictures of our whole trip so far will be posted on my Photobucket. Friday? We're hittin' the San Antonio Zoo!

Cheers!

IQ Test Score

While I agree that, yes, I am a genius, I don't think this test is quite accurate. They ask those stupid questions like which number comes next in this series: 1, 17, 24, 9, your mom, Pi, ...

Since my brains lacks the necessary synapses to think about numbers logically, I never understand these questions. So I guess. There were quite a few of these questions, and Regional Genius was the second highest category. How I got that by guessing on about 1/3rd of the test, I'll never know.
